Description

Objectives

  • To provide a comfortable warm environment to the enlarged reconfigured alfresco function area for patrons to enjoy all year.

Project Scope

Eckermann worked with GForce Construction to design, supply and install 228sqm of hydronic heating under the polished concrete floor of the reconfigured alfresco area of Ukaria Cultural Centre.

Provide hydronic underfloor heating and cooling using high-efficiency heat with running costs fully offset by the existing solar system.

System Design

Two stainless steel REHAU manifolds were installed to connect the main flow and return pipes to the floor circuits of each zone.

A 16kw LG Therma V High Temperature heat pump was installed as the heat source for the entire area. This paired with the existing PV Solar system enables the running costs to be fully offset in both heating and cooling modes.

The Zennio 2 zone control system allows both zones to be controlled from this single controller and prevents condensation from forming on the slab when cooling with our dew point control system.

Project Outcome

This project was completed in a record 28 days for handover at the end of Oct to coincide with a launch party 1 Nov which kept the patrons cosy and warm in winter and cool in summer.
